I got many things out of my CBT sessions, all of which help me cope with everyday life. There are two lessons which I will always value and keep with me.

The first is, I learned that I am an OK human being. What I did or whatever mood I was in I was still an OK person.

The other is, I learnt to be compassionate and kind to myself by learning to talk to and cultivate my inner self or inner friend.

This gives me rational, objective and evidence based opinions to what is happening in my life and what I’m feeling.

These two things have helped me greatly when things aren’t going according to plan. So instead of jumping straight to ‘I’m the worse person in the world’, I can now look at things rationally and compassionately and have a more balanced view of events.
